Our Y7/8 students are ALL given a leadership role within the school. This includes, Head and Deputy Student, Whanau Leader, Physical Activity Leader (PALS), Assembly Leader, Sheddies, Reception Monitor, Student Council Leader.

Our Y6 students are engaged as Apprentice Leaders and are led by the seniors and supported by the staff.

On Friday we run our special Senior Leadership programme. This provides opportunities for our seniors and apprentices to experience a range of activities and to develop a range of skills. The programme includes activities under the following brackets:

  • LEADERSHIP – including an overnight camp, National Young Leaders Conference, leadership training…

  • GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY – including a free carwash, litter collect in the community, visiting local retirement homes and kindergartens…

  • LIFE SKILLS – including first aid, cooking, car maintenance, public speaking…

  • CAREERS – including visiting local places of work, Careers Conference, hosting local employers at school, interview technique skills…

  • SOCIAL, CULTURAL, SPORTING – making links with other local Rural Schools in the WRSN group and having regular get togethers, visit to the Recreation Centre for rock climbing etc, Leading the Hangi and Powhiri…

Our Leaders also have the opportunity to be involved in our GOING FOR GOLD programme. This is similar to the Duke Of Edinburgh Award scheme and involves community service, the skills listed above, an adventurous activity and an overnight camp.
