Welcome to Ardgowan School, a welcoming country school with mountain views. We have extensive grounds with a large field, playground area, covered basketball courts and lots of space for the children to enjoy. We are lucky enough to have our library in the historic original school building. We are proud of our heritage and how the school has continued to develop and prosper over the years.
Your child may wish to take part in some of our many sports activities including soccer, hockey, touch, netball, mini ball and basketball. We also have a popular choir and Kapa Haka. We provide an opportunity to develop academic, sporting, cultural and social skills and take part in activities for gifted and talented students. We offer a variety of opportunities for our senior students to develop their social and leadership skills. We also offer a popular and successful programme for our pre school children, involving visits before they start. This helps to make that first big day a happy and memorable one. We have high standards of behaviour, attitudes, values, involvement and academic achievement.
Our students are given every opportunity to be the best that they can be. Our school has a welcoming atmosphere and a strong community feel. We believe that good, open communication with our community is an important aspect of our partnership and we endeavour to inform and listen to the needs and concerns of our families. Our Board of Trustees is dedicated to improving standards. We offer all the benefits of a country school (multi level classes, small class sizes meaning more teacher time per student, differentiated learning to cater for specific needs, friendly supportive community, space…) whilst still having the convenience of being only 5 minutes from the centre of town.

School photo order envelopes went home with children yesterday.
Orders will close on Friday 16th October which is the first Friday back of Term 4. Please have all orders back into the school office by 3pm on this date as that is when it will be posted off. Any orders arriving in the office after this date will be returned to families to send and arrange directly with the photographer.

To help support our children for camps for 2027 the fundraising is going to kick off with a raffle. We have some great prizes already but if you are keen to donate a prize as part of this fundraising campaign please contact Mrs Goodall or Mrs Hattingh.

Just a reminder that if you would like to be a part of the Home and School's Halloween car boot event please send your forms back to the school office by tomorrow afternoon. Our Home and School are now working to arrange the event and knowing numbers is key to having things sorted for the day.
