Kia Ora,
Welcome to Ardgowan School, a welcoming country school with mountain views. We have extensive grounds with a large field, playground area, covered basketball courts and lots of space for the children to enjoy. We are lucky enough to have our library in the historic original school building. We are proud of our heritage and how the school has continued to develop and prosper over the years.
Your child may wish to take part in some of our many sports activities including soccer, hockey, touch, netball, mini ball and basketball. We also have a popular choir and Kapa Haka. We provide an opportunity to develop academic, sporting, cultural and social skills and take part in activities for gifted and talented students. We offer a variety of opportunities for our senior students to develop their social and leadership skills. We also offer a popular and successful programme for our pre school children, involving visits before they start. This helps to make that first big day a happy and memorable one. We have high standards of behaviour, attitudes, values, involvement and academic achievement.
Our students are given every opportunity to be the best that they can be. Our school has a welcoming atmosphere and a strong community feel. We believe that good, open communication with our community is an important aspect of our partnership and we endeavour to inform and listen to the needs and concerns of our families. Our Board of Trustees is dedicated to improving standards. We offer all the benefits of a country school (multi level classes, small class sizes meaning more teacher time per student, differentiated learning to cater for specific needs, friendly supportive community, spaceā¦) whilst still having the convenience of being only 5 minutes from the centre of town.
We look forward to welcoming you to our school community.
Kia ora everyone,
Kiri is on leave this week so the school office will, at times, be unattended. Please use Skool loop to send in any attendance notifications and contact your class teacher directly with any other information regarding your child.
Have a great week!
Good morning Ardgowan families,
Our wonderful Home and School is once again organising an Ardgowan family event for Halloween. Please find attached some information and flyers about the event as there is a change from the format of the past couple of years.
The forms and info will also come home with your eldest child today.
Have a lovely weekend.
Good afternoon Ardgowan parents,
Due to an unfortunate clash of events on the same day some of the children who were booked to go to the St Kevin's production of Sister Act can no longer attend. This means that we have a limited number of spaces available on the bus for interested children who are Year 4 and up. The cost of the bus is $5 per child and needs to be paid in advance to the school office via internet banking, eftpos or cash.
Please email Kiri in the office if your child isn't already going, but would like to. With limited spaces available it is on a first come, first served basis.
Families of the children no longer able to go will receive a $5 refund to their child's Edge account. We apologise for any inconvenience caused to those affected families.
Ardgowan School Office
Good morning Ardgowan families,
Thank you so much to all the families who have already paid for the disco by cash, eftpos or internet banking.
We still have a handful of families yet to send payment. If you have not yet paid this is just a gentle reminder that payment ASAP would be greatly appreciated please.
Many thanks.
Ardgowan School 125th Jubilee Quasquicentennial Celebrations 2028
The Ardgowan School 125th Jubilee is coming up in 2028. Our amazing school will turn 125 years old and we are planning to celebrate this great milestone.
We are looking for enthusiastic school families, historians from the district, community members and Ardgowan alumni to join the Jubilee committee to plan and organise the events. If you have special skills, or an interest in event planning and management, we need you!
Many hands make light work, and we are looking forward to hearing some great ideas, so if you are keen to help out please get in touch.
You can contact us via email office@ardgowan.school.nz
or give Kiri a call in the office (03) 433 1366 to register your interest.
