Kia Ora,
Welcome to Ardgowan School, a welcoming country school with mountain views. We have extensive grounds with a large field, playground area, covered basketball courts and lots of space for the children to enjoy. We are lucky enough to have our library in the historic original school building. We are proud of our heritage and how the school has continued to develop and prosper over the years.
Your child may wish to take part in some of our many sports activities including soccer, hockey, touch, netball, mini ball and basketball. We also have a popular choir and Kapa Haka. We provide an opportunity to develop academic, sporting, cultural and social skills and take part in activities for gifted and talented students. We offer a variety of opportunities for our senior students to develop their social and leadership skills. We also offer a popular and successful programme for our pre school children, involving visits before they start. This helps to make that first big day a happy and memorable one. We have high standards of behaviour, attitudes, values, involvement and academic achievement.
Our students are given every opportunity to be the best that they can be. Our school has a welcoming atmosphere and a strong community feel. We believe that good, open communication with our community is an important aspect of our partnership and we endeavour to inform and listen to the needs and concerns of our families. Our Board of Trustees is dedicated to improving standards. We offer all the benefits of a country school (multi level classes, small class sizes meaning more teacher time per student, differentiated learning to cater for specific needs, friendly supportive community, space…) whilst still having the convenience of being only 5 minutes from the centre of town.
We look forward to welcoming you to our school community.
Good morning Ardgowan families,
Just a reminder that we have a mufti day tomorrow for our camp raffle prizes.
This is not a gold coin donation. Instead we are asking for children to please bring in an item (or similar) from the flyer which is attached to go in the raffle hampers.
A reminder also that our Community Consultation closes at 3pm tomorrow afternoon. To be in the draw for the $100 New World Gift card, please complete the survey - link below.

Jewellery and other personal items at school.
In the last couple of weeks we have noticed a few children bringing jewellery and other personal items to school. We would appreciate parents actively discouraging this as items can get lost or broken while at school, and can sometimes cause difficulties between the children which teachers have to then sort out during class time.
Items bought in specifically for Golden time activities are not included in this as they are for activities that have been pre approved by the teachers.
Our school policy is to keep unnecessary personal items at home and the school is not responsible for any loss or damage incurred. We greatly appreciate your support with keeping these things at home.

Zone Athletics at Glenavy
On Tuesday 27th of October, all students that are age 7 or older as of the 1st of October will be attending the Zone Athletics in Glenavy.
We are currently organising buses to get the students to and from the event. Due to the significant costs of buses, please let us know if you are planning on collecting your child/children from the event. This would mean that we may only need to book one bus to bring the remaining children back to school.
If you could please email the school office to let us know by Monday 19th October we would really appreciate it.
Burgers and Sausages can be pre-ordered with payment at our school office until 9am on Monday 26th October.
CORRECT CASH PAYMENT ONLY. No eftpos or internet banking.
Sausages $3 each
Burgers $5 each.
Adults going to support can order on the day at Glenavy.
Good morning Ardgowan families,
Just a reminder that orders for school photos must be back into the school office by 3pm Friday 16th October (this Friday). These will then be sent off to the photographer as a bulk order.
Any orders which arrive after this will be returned to families to send to the photographer directly, so please send those orders in.
Many thanks.
